Increased individual tax breaks proposed

The China Post - To help taxpayers cope with shrinking real incomes and rising commodity prices, the Chen Shui-bian Administration yesterday approved increased deductions for individual taxpayers that, if ratified by lawmakers, will take effect for the 2008 tax year and reduce the government's tax revenues by NT$3.7 billion (US$112 million) annually. Tax revenue pie for local govts sharply expanded

The China Post - The Cabinet yesterday approved a set of draft revisions to the bill governing tax budget allocation, greatly expanding the tax revenue pie for local county and city governments by NT$100 billion to the level of NT$270-280 billion from the existing NT$180 billion. Full Story

Tax revenue for first 8 months up 8.2 percent

The China Post - Net tax revenue for the first eight months reached NT$1.17 trillion (US$35.22 billion), an increase of NT$89 billion or 8.2 percent from the same period of last year, a financial official said yesterday. Full Story

China to put tax on Taiwan bisphenol A products

The China Post - Starting today, China will impose a five-year anti-dumping tax of 5.3 to 6 percent on bisphenol A products made by some Taiwan companies, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced yesterday. Full Story
